To start off, you are
at the bottom. You are freshmen. Some of you will get lucky and kick it off with an upper classmen, thus making you accepted.
But other wise, you stick to your kind. You do not talk to anyone you dont know unless spoken to. Upper classmen are not a
force to be rekoned with. Now that you know you are on the bottom of the food chain, you will learn how to survive.
1. Most important, do
not diss ANYONE that you are not prepared to fight. In high school, things are played out differently. Fighting is a regular
thing. If you are going to mouth off, expect to fight the one you mouth off to. Especially Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
2. Not everyone is automatically
your friend. You have to earn respect. The fastest way to do this is to do favors for upper classmen. This will show them
that you are worthy of trust. (HINT: NO ONE LIKES A RAT)
3. Do not go around saying
how tough you are. This is a fast way to get knocked out. If you are as strong as you say, you better be able to back it up.
4. Dont go off mouthing
about someone behind their back. If you tell someone something bad, eventually it will get back to the victim wich in turn
will make it a bad day for you. If you want to say something, say it TO THEM DIRECTLY. If you are scared to do so, keep your
mouth shut.
5. Upper Classmen dont
care about your problems. Dont go around whining and crying becouse your relationship ended tragically. No one will give you
any sympathy. Only your fellow freshmen friends care.
6. Get on the good side
of Upper Classmen. This will make your year a whole lot easier. Think of this as prison: The more people you know, the better
off you are. The more friends you make and the more respect you earn for yourself, the easier the year will be.
7. Do not back mouth
to a command. Especially from any Principal, Dare Officer or JROTC Instructor. No one likes a loud mouth show-off. Do what
is asked of you and go along with your business.
8. Do not hang out in
a pre-existing group. Start your own freshman group. We dont like freshmen (inmature and annoying) to just barge into our
groups and try to take over. Stick with your own kind.
9. Do not threaten anyone.
If you do, you will be jumped. No one likes to be thretened and in High School, they will take action aginst you for saying
that you will jump them. They will want proof. So unless you plan on a fight, dont talk smack.
10. You should always
respect Upper Classmen. They can either make your year easier by puting in a good word to their friends (wich are usually
in mass numbers) wich will give you status, or make your year a living hell by puting in a bad word. The choice is yours.
Dont be annoying, Respect them and always do as asked. This is the easiest way to surviving.
11. Freshmen year is
not easy. Hard assigments, lots of drama, relationships, fights and after school activities can all be stressful. Your best
bet is to only bite off what you can chew. Dont show off by taking harder classes than you can deal with. You will then fail
and have to re-take the class again the following year along with the next level of class.
12. NEVER SIT ON THE
SENIOR BENCHES. Freshmen are not allowed. These are for Upper Classmen. You can sit on the floor, in the cafeteria or on benches
located variously through out the school.
13. Lunch time. Never
sit at a table with complete strangers. The tables that have lots of people in one area are already claimed. You need to then
find your own table with your own friends.
14. Life isnt fair. Either
is High School. You will learn to love your routine or you will be left behind. It is important to get to class ASAP so you
are not counted tardy. Too many tardies and you get ASD.
15. Why not show off?
No one cares! Show off for your friends, but Upper Classmen have better things to do than watch some freshman embaress themselves.
16. Choose your groups
wisley. If you do choose to try to jump right in to a group, make sure you are willing to do what they do, do as they say,
and copy their moves. Becouse if you dont, you will be dis-owned. It is important to be sure you are willing to be a true
part of whatever group you are in.
17. Error? Room for none
here. DO NOT dis-obey any of these rules. These are the best way to survive. As X Freshmen, this is how we survived intact.
Follow what we did and you will be fine.
So this is a guide that is something
you should already know. But really, its best to follow it. Becouse high school is NO walk in the park. Drama, fighs, serious
relationships, hardcore assigments, its all a lot tougher than your average middle school. This is things US freshmen needed
last year. We knew what to do already, but hey, friendly reminders are ok too. So, Best of luck with you on your journeys.
Just remember to play it cool your first year. Find out where you belong. Dont make anyone mad that you dont know (you dont
know how many friends they have) and just watch what is said.
